Public meetings - Week of October 20, 2008
There were several meetings the week of October 20 concering CSU's proposed Green Power Project at Maxwell Ranch. The Larimer County Commissioners unanimously approved adoption of the so-called 1041 regulations on Monday, Oct. 20. These are land use planning guidelines that give the county more of a say in dealing with large scale energy projects, such as the proposed wind turbines on the Maxwell Ranch site, northwest of Fort Collins.
On Tuesday, October 21, representatives of CSU and Wind Holding, the developer of the proposed project, and others met with nearly 50 residents in the Maxwell Ranch area to discuss the issues. The CSU Green Power Project was also presented to an on-campus audience on Wednesday, October 22. Bill Farland, Senior Vice President for Research and Engagement, hosted the session which included faculty, staff, students and community members.
October 30 meeting: A statement released on October 28 by Larimer County Community Information Manager Deni LaRue: "The Board of Larimer County Commissioners work session titled: CSU Green Power Project, scheduled for 9:30a.m. on Thursday, October 30, has been canceled and is not expected to be rescheduled."
Additionally, Donna Hart from the County Manager's office on behalf of Frank Lancaster, Larimer County Manager, explained that he feels that "enough information is now available about the project that the commissioners have opted to cancel the work session."
